TNA Thursday 2/18/10

Last nights show was good for the most part. Im really enjoying TNA the last few weeks. It seems theyve got their collective heads outta their asses finally. Please oh please keep up the forward momentum. Ill give u candy, Hulk. Perhaps a lolly?
The Pope opens the show with the champ Styles. Good. Popes the new contender for the title, lets start building this feud. Another good move on TNAs part is having this match at Lockdown in April. That gives this fued a chance to build. To simmer if u will.
Im not the hugest fan of Flair being with AJ. Its getting to be like a Woody Allen movie. U know where the lead actor acts just like Woody for really no reason? Yea AJ is doing that with Flair. I get it. I really do. AJ up till now hasnt really had a character. Hes AJ Styles. Lets inject a little life in him. Problem being is that hes now acting like a pale shadow of the most respected wrestler in the world. Hes Little Naitch 2.
Its a temorary fix. AJ himself doesnt seem all that comfortable in his new role and eventually whenever he realizes Flair is riding his gravy train itll end but then where will he be? Back to being a great wrestler with little character?
I wanna see the Pope go over at Lockdown but i doubt itll happen. TNA is pushing AJ too hard right now and with the rub from Flair i dont see it ending anytime soon. Pope however deserves to be in the main event picture. Hes rich with character and the crowd loves him. His in ring work has been solid and he knows how to get people over without making himself look bad. A+ segment.
Next up we got the return of Daffney. THANK GOD. Shes been gone way too long and ive missed her so. In a rare showing on IMPACT she actually got to be in a match, and lo and behold it was against the Knockout champ herself Tara or Missy McNipslip as she was two weeks ago. Daffney almost never wrestles anymore. Last couple times ive seen her shes been valeting for Raven and Dr Stevie (they need to stop that btw). In another bit surprise Daffney laid out the champ with a brutal assault. Yea she lost the match but in laying Nipples out she set up a possible fued that may get herself a title shot. Which is good. Cause we need more Daffney in our lives. I know i do. Another A segment.
Next up, Orlando Jordan versus Samoa Joe. Joes coming off a loss to AJ and the storyline is his temper is outta control. Those ideas never make sense to me. Hes a wrestler. With a temper. He angrily beats people up for a living. Wouldnt a temper be more like a job requirement?
Anyway Orlando Jordan who seems like hes gonna last awhile despite being lame and not talented came out with some chick and some dude. My friend Steve (read his blog too btw he likes bad music) said that the dude and chick were Jordans lovers. Thats the set up. Now during his ring entrance, the match, and post match The Professor Mike Tenay and FTW 13 Taz made no mention to that fact. Which if it is the case y bother? Y have two people wholl be paid for the night and not address them? Is it the gay thing? R we really not gonna pull the trigger on a almost gay character in 2010?
Its utterly fuckin retarded.
For decades now we have had wrestlers who have been light in the loafers but we never call them gay. Generally theyre also heels which says a lot about us as a country. The closest we came was years ago with the team of Chuck and Billy a tag team who were very fuckin gay. Gay theme song, pink tights, prancing around the ring, and even some ass grabbing. U know what though? They got over. So over to the point that they were gonna get married and they milked it for weeks. Until finally at the altar both Billy and Chuck admitted they werent gay. Bull. Shit.
Then there was Kanyon. A guy who admitted he was gay fo reals and u know what happend to him? He got his ass beat fo reals and ran outta the buisness. Once again. Bull. Shit.
So now we got Orlando Jordan. A guy who appears to like both vag and cock. And once again homo phobic wrestling is afraid to pull the trigger. Bull. Shit. D rating cause Samoa Joe looked good in the match until he lost outta nowhere. Damn temper.
Next we got Panic Time with Abyss. The love child of Kane and Mankind with pee on him has had a rough go of it lately. Mean old Eric Bischoff doesnt like Abyss (sometimes Eazy E is onto something) and because gas attendent reject Abyss disobeyed big Eric theres hell to pay. Eric enlists TNA founder and Erics other bitch boy Jeff Jarrett. In a scene that looks like it was shot in Jeffs moms basement (wheres the meatloaf ma!) Eric tells Jeff to use the stupid fake barbed wire bat on Abyss. If he doesnt Eric is gonna unmask him. Cause that worked so well for Kane.
The match happens. Eric is once again disobeyed and calls out all the other wrestlers u forgot were employed there (i totally forgot Rhino was still on the roster) and a beating of downs was had. Eric goes to unmask Abyss and wait a sec. Whose that coming to the ring real slow like? Y its Hulk Hogan himself! Yay the rating goes up a point! Huzzah!
Hogan yells at Abyss to get in his office like some mad italian uncle in the mob. Where he tells Abyss to stop being a puss and get back to being a monster like he was when TNA still had jobbers. To help Abyss get over himself and hopefully get back over with the crowd he gives him his hall of fame ring. The one thing that Linda couldnt take so u just know it has magical powers.
Im gonna give this segment a B- cause while it was entirely too long it served a purpose. It gives Abyss to be a monster again who squashes everyone like he did when he first showed up. Thats what the people want to see. A big animal who runs over people and doesnt talk. If they can possibly make Abyss a threat again Hogan and TNA would be miracle workers.
Kurt Angle comes out and squashes some guy who is just as talented but mustve pissed off somebody cause Daniels has just been getting shitted on since this Hogan era started. Angle then gets on the mic and literally starts crying. He starts talking about how he had a bad 2009 which is true ( damn true! ). He divorced his wife who then shacked up with Kurts boss (starfuckers by nin comes to mind) and then Kurts girlfriend had him arrested and almost thrown in prison while trying to steal his house in Pittsburgh. So yea personally i feel bad for Kurt. Unless he deserved it. Then fuck Kurt. In anycase why is this on my wrestling show? Y is a guy who won a gold freakin medal crying in front of the world? How am i as a viewer suppossed to think Kurt Angle is a bad ass warrior when hes bitching about chicks hes fucked fucking him? Kurt Angle should never cry. He should be suplexing people and ankle locking them till they tap. He should be a wrestling machine with one goal in mind. Destroy!! Maybe hot pockets too but most definetly DESTROY! Not whining like his last name is Woods.
I also think it was bullshit that Kurt was trying to imply Ken Anderson was unamerican cause he used Kurts metal necklace a soilder gave him to win his match. U brought it to the ring dumbass! Its nobodies fault but ur own. Besides arent we forgetting that Anderson starred in a little movie called Behind Enemy Line 2!? I guess playing a marine is considered unamerican these days Kurt. Wah!
Im rambling.
Anderson thankfully saves the segment by being funny and mean to poor Kurt and then beating the shit outta him. Vintage Anderson...................Anderson. Segment gets a C.
Back from break now its time for Dumbledore and the Canadian Harry Potter to come to the ring. Dumbledore, or Kevin Nash if u fancy, has a problem with his friends Scott "the bar tab" Hall and Sean "damn good man" Waltman. It seems Father Time Nash doesnt like being kicked and punched in the face by his friends. He obviously doesnt mind picking up bar tabs or posting bail though. So he calls both his buddies to the ring so he can be the one doing the kicking and punching to the face. Hall and Waltman come through the crowd. Its closer to the concession stand that way, and all four men start with the fake fighting until security breaks it up. Hogan then appears in the entrance way looking on in a very "im gonna spike the rating one more time" kinda way.
This segment gets a B-. It was a lot shorter then segments theyve had before but Nash like Angle was borderlining into therapy time but it does look like this fued might be thankfully ending soon. Its been over a month. Put these guys in a cage at Lockdown and let the cluster fuck ensue. Then cast Hall and Waltman aside since neither can add much to anything anymore. I will however miss their sneaking around backstage like two drunk ninjas looking for a way into the venue despite a camera being right there. All that was missing from that was the Pink Panther theme.
Overall Impact was once again a decent show. Theres a lot of interesting things going on and hopefully itll all play out and they can keep the momentum going. As it stands right now theyre leagues ahead of WWE as far as storylines and wrestling goes. I have had zero interest in watching Raw or Smackdown. NXT peaks my interest and i will check it out but im not holding my breath for anything spectacular.

PS: i omitted the X Division match from my review cause it was mainly a spotfest and filler. I will say it was nice seeing Frankie Kazarian out of that god awful Suicide gimmick and get back to being a good wrestler. Hopefully they can bump him up to main event status by next year. Hes got the goods. Other than that the match was nothing special. Its a shame too cause Destination X is the next PPV and its where the focus goes to the X Division wrestlers but nothing was really said about it. Probably means itll be gone by next year. A bright idea would be to leave a thursday show for just the X Division since Impact is going to Mondays in march. Even if it was just an hour itll be a good B show showcasing guys rarely seen on tv anymore.
Thats all for now my little cherubs. Beware the Cobra.
