Still Lost?
i started watching Lost when the first season came to dvd. I and my girlfriend at the time devoured all 22 episodes in a matter of weeks, hooked from the start. While i was content with waiting for the dvd of season two the next year she was not and thus we began watching it on broadcast television. Like normal people. Like (!) consumers???!!!! Uuuggghhh.
It was a disaster. ABC would show three weeks of new eps and then four weeks of repeats. Not a good thing with a show like Lost where every nanosecond counts. By the end of May i was lost with Lost and my hatred of regular tv grew.
Resolute in my hatred i vowed to not watch season 3 till it arrived in my prefered format of dvd (this was in a time before on-demand and hulu and itunes took over, about 1620) or as its known in the streets, crack on a disc. Sadly i had a girlfriend at the time. One who did not care for my preferences (or me at all really) and once again i tuned in to the season premiere just like one of the herd.
Moo bitch. Moo.
This time things went awry. The season started very poorly and interest on both parties was...well....lost. So stopping of the watching was had and back to watching shitty slice of life indy films like a poor mans hipster (hey Ant!) was done. It was indeed a dark time.
Fast foward through another bad relationship (its seriously how i gage timeframes) and into a not so bad but smelly one (hi baby!) and the topic of Lost comes up again. My old lady as i learned is a fanatic. Full of theories and thoughts (seriously these Losties could solve jfks murder if the info was there) but a real passion for the show was evident. Thus drawing me back in like a fat Pacino without the blindness and not Satan.
So starting of the watching was resumed. This time things were different. Netflix or as theyre better known:
THE GODS OF VIDEO!!!!!
have deemed a lowly commonor such as i to watch movies and tv shows through my video gaming system ( or Winona; dont judge me). With this capability i was able to blaze my way through seasons 3 and 4 in a matter of two weeks. Season 5 had not been released yet but so full of Lost addiction was i that i dropped a measly fifty bucks to download the entire season off of itunes.
I am that pathetic sometimes. Judge away.
And in typical junkie fashion i blazed through all 22 hours of season five in under a week. Leaving me to go cold turkey till season six started. Once again i found myself falling into line with everyone else. I have gone back to being one of the herd. The only difference being that if i miss tuesdays episode i have trusty hulu to back me up and give me my fix.
So now that im on a writing kick (it wont last. Im like the Trent Rezner of blogging. Kinda cool at the time cause its new and fun but later on the earlier shits still better and i disappear for years till people remember me and how cool i was "back then". Thinner too.) i figured a Lost post was due. Luckily for u though i will not bore u with my theories and thoughts on whats really happening on the show. Mainly cause i know ill be wrong like everyone else and feel like a douche for wasting mine in ur time.
What i will be boring u with is a bi or tri (ie; when i remember or care) article on my favorite characters of Lost and y i think theyre so damn snazzy jazzy. I wont be focusing too much on the actual goings on of the island cause its all really spoilery and confusing. Instead ill be more referencing the flashbacks in episodes. For multiple reasons. One, their less spoilery and confusing and two, the characters back story r sometimes more interesting than the whole mystery of what is the island and whos that guy and what the fuck is going on? We get that in mere spoonfulls. The meat of each ep is in the characters themselves.
In any case tread lightly if u have plans of watching the show. Here there be spoilers. Not many but enough to make u slap ur dog in frustration. Or boredom.
